Karim’s half-century propels Albion to championship win over RHT

Reyad Karim’s solid 50 and a four-wicket haul by Kumar Deopersaud have led Albion to a 42-run win over arch rivals Rose Hall Town Bakewell in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Ramnaresh Sarwan U-17 Tournament.

In the match, played at the Area H Ground on Thursday last, Albion took first strike and scored 198-8 in 50 overs.

Batting at number four, Karin scored an even 50, which included three fours. He was supported by Berbice U-17 player Sarwan Chaitnarine, who scored 33, and Leon Cecil who made 23.
Leading the bowling for Rose Hall Town Bakewell U-17 was Jonathan Rampersaud, who had 2-51 in 10 overs, while fellow off-spinner Matthew Pottaya was the pick of the bowlers with 2-28 in 10 overs. Lucas Arthur and Jeremy Sandia supported with one wicket each.
In reply, RHT Bakwell fell short of the target to end on 156 all out. Deopersaud led the charge with the ball for Ablion, ending with 4-16 in eight overs. He was supported by Cecil who bagged 2-23 in 10 overs, and left-arm spinner Gourav Ramesh who ended with 2-10 in seven overs.
National youth player Rampersaud top-scored for RHT Bakewell with 41, while Sandia made 39 and Ricardo Ramdehol made 29 in a losing effort.
