A labourer of Number 57 Village, Berbice (East Berbice-Corentyne), was on Friday remanded for a series of burglaries in that community.

Mahendra Rambarran, also called “Vickey”, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore via Skype and pleaded not guilty to the three counts of break and enter and larceny.
It is alleged that between April 17 and 18, the 31-year-old man broke and entered the business place of Gansham Totaram at Number 57 Village and stole US$4000 and a quantity of alcoholic beverages valued $101,000.
It is also alleged that between the same two days, he also broke and entered the dwelling house of Rita Khan of Number 57 Village and stole one TCL 32-inch television valued $63,000 and a quantity of groceries total valued $194,000.
Another charge stated that between April 10 and 11, he broke into the dwelling house of George Narine of Number 52 Village and stole a quantity of groceries and household articles valued $150,000.
Bail was refused and he will have to return to court on June 6, 2020.
