A 27-year-old man from Lamaha Park, Georgetown, was granted $300,000 bail after facing charges related to multiple gun offenses.
Akeem Thompson, who was arrested on January 15, by a police rank, appeared in court on Monday to answer to the charges.
Arrested: Akeem Thompson
Thompson is accused of discharging a loaded firearm with intent, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without a license. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on January 15 when Thompson allegedly fired a weapon at Fazaad Hameed, a 37-year-old businessman of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
According to police reports, the confrontation took place at approximately 10:30h on the busy road, when Thompson allegedly discharged the firearm in the direction of Hameed.
