Layne optimistic about Police’s Elite League campaign
Captain Kevin Layne is optimistic about the Elite League Season ahead, as he prepares to make a case for the coveted championship with the Guyana Police Force Football Club. a team to be on the lookout for in the upcoming season of the Elite League, Layne believes his team will be able to perfect last year’s mistakes this time around.
Kevin Layne is confident of Police FC’s chances this Elite League
Layne, during an exclusive chat with the Evening News Sport, noted that while he does not want to dwell on the, mistakes of last season, Police FC has worked hard in their pre- season to correct such.
“So far, it has been great, we have been preparing for quite some time. So, I’m just waiting for the League to start to get the ball rolling,” Layne said about their pre- season preparation.
The defender added, “Well, don’t want to go back on last season too much but based on that season, we see the areas that we was lacking in and we just come back this season and we was working on it throughout the pre- season. So, you could look out for Police to be up there.”
Quizzed about their current team’s composition, amidst new signings, Layne admitted that those new faces have given Police FC renewed confidence.
The Police Captain explained, “It does take some time, it all depends on your football knowledge but throughout the pre- season everybody has been grasping and going along the way ad everybody has been holding on to what the Coach has been teaching us. You could expect a good season from us.”
“And with the new signings, that also boost our team confidence.”
On a more personal note, Layne says a lot can be expected from him and his leadership this season.
“Well, you could expect more communication from me and also, I’ve made some mistakes throughout last season and I’ve been working on them in this pre-season so, you could expect a lot more from Kevin Layne,” he assured.
The Elite League will kick off with a double- header today at the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) National Training Center (NTC), East Bank Demerara.
