Linden man busted with ecstasy gets bail

Twenty-five-year-old Winston Bourne, a labourer of Wismar Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden, on Monday appeared virtually before Magistrate Wanda Fortune to answer to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on April 2, 2022, he had a quantity of ecstasy pills at Sunflower Street, Wismar, Linden. He was, however, granted bail in the sum of $35,000.

Police stated that on the day in question at about 23:30h, Police ranks were on mobile patrol duties and whilst in the vicinity of Sunflower Street, Wismar, Linden, they observed two males conversing on a bridge.
Bourne was reportedly sitting on a black electric scooter and upon seeing the Police, he attempted to drop his scooter and run while the other dropped a haversack he was carrying and made good his escape.
Bourne, Police stated, attempted to dispose of a transparent plastic that was in his hand but failed to do so. The ranks took possession of the plastic bag which was examined in his presence during which several orange and grey tablet-like substances with the markings of a skull and the word “Fanta” on them were found.

He was cautioned and he replied “What y’all can do for me, I buy these ecstacy to turn over from that man y’all see run away. Things tight with me, what y’all can do for me”.
He was then arrested and escorted to the MacKenzie Police Station where the suspected Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or “ecstasy”) was weighed in his presence and amounted to 30 grams. He will return to court on May 3, 2022.
