Nationwide registration for Guyana Digital School opens

Fulfilling a commitment to expand the Guyana Digital School (GDS) to provide for learners across all Grade levels, the Education Ministry announced on Saturday that the Guyana Digital School (GDS) registration for 2026/2027 has officially opened, and will include learners from Grades One to 11
The platform was initially opened to students of Grade 10 and 11, and saw over 20,000 students across the Caribbean region signing up. It was promised that the initiative would be expanded to include learners across other Grade levels.
According to a statement from the Ministry the free initiative continues to be available to all Guyanese learners, in addition to being open to learners across the Caribbean. The commencement marks the fulfilment of a commitment from subject minister Sonia Parag to expand access to quality digital learning opportunities.

“Through GDS, students will have free access to supportive educational content developed in keeping with national curriculum guides and regional syllabuses, providing another avenue to reinforce concepts taught in the classroom, practise what they have learnt, and strengthen their understanding at their own pace,” the statement said.
“GDS is also more than a resource for students. It is designed to support teachers in reinforcing classroom instruction, assist parents and guardians in supporting learning at home, and give students additional opportunities to learn, practise, and succeed.”
A brainchild of President Dr Irfaan Ali, the GDS employs a four-quadrant approach to learning, integrating technology, content, engagement, and hands-on experiences.
The Four-Quadrant Approach integrates interactive online classes, a rich digital library, skill-building programmes beyond the standard curriculum, and practical projects that allow students to apply knowledge.
The digital school was created to complement rather than replace traditional schooling. The platform employs a blended learning model that combines technology, content, engagement, and hands-on experience. Students benefit from AI-supported learning tools, live classes with trained educators, and access to a comprehensive digital library.
The platform also supports skill-building beyond the traditional curriculum, helping learners acquire practical and digital competencies essential for the modern workforce.
The initiative was officially launched in December 2025 and is considered a gateway to digital learning and an enabler of essential skills for students, particularly those who face challenges accessing traditional schooling.
Through the platform, students are able to have access to all textbooks for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) exams, not only in Guyana but also across the wider CARICOM region.
Several leaders across the Caribbean have lauded Guyana’s creation of this initiative and opening it up to learners from the entire Caribbean.
