Linden man nabbed with gun after threatening to kill child’s mother
A 47-year-old businessman of Block 22, Wismar, Linden was arrested with an illegal firearm on Tuesday after Police received information that he had threatened to kill his child’s mother.
Reports are that Police went to the man’s home around 18:00h, and upon their arrival, the suspect attempted to flee, but was apprehended.
A search was then conducted on his person, but nothing was found, Police said, adding that ranks then checked the haversack he was carrying on his back, and a .32 silver and black Lorcin L390 pistol, with serial number 243966 was found. The man was also found with a gun magazine which contained two rounds of .38 ammunition.
He was arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station along with the firearm, magazine and ammunition. He is presently in custody pending charges.
Just recently, a 26-year-old man of Haslington, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was taken into Police custody after he was caught with an illegal firearm and matching ammunition at the Tiger Creek area, Puruni Road, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
It was revealed that the man was found with a .32 Taurus pistol and two live rounds of matching ammunition during a search.
Reports stated that ranks were on patrol duties in the area when they observed the man sitting in front of a shop.
As a result, the ranks approached him and conducted a search, during which the gun and ammunition were discovered stashed in a haversack he was carrying at the time.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
