Linden man remanded on armed robbery charge

A Block 22, Wismar, Linden man was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Wanda Fortune on a charge of armed robbery.

Devon Campbell

It is alleged that Devon Campbell of Lot 245 Block 22, while being armed with a gun on October 18, 2018, robbed Virtual Complainant (VC) Leroy Nedd of a quantity of items including a silver ring.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at Half Mile, Wismar. The prosecution is maintaining that Nedd was positively identified by the VC as one of the persons who robbed him on October 18, 2018. However, the defendant during his sworn statement in court maintained that he was not in Linden at the time. According to the prosecution, the defendant remained silent when the charge was read to him during his arrest by Police last November.
Campbell was remanded to prison until March 29, 2019 when he is expected to call two witnesses in his defence.
