Linden motorcyclist killed after colliding with car

A motorcyclist of Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, was killed after he collided with a car along the Sir David Rose Avenue Public Road in Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), on Saturday. Dead is 29-year-old Adrile Drakes. The accident occurred at approximately 16:30h. According to reports, the car which was driven by a 68-year-old man, also of Blueberry Hill, was proceeding north on the western side of the Sir David Rose Avenue Public Road and the motorcycle was proceeding in the opposite direction, reportedly at a fast rate of speed. While negotiating a left bend, the motorcyclist reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the front of the car. As a result of the impact of the collision, the motorcyclist was flung onto the roadway and sustained injuries. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious state and transported to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC). There, he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty but succumbed while receiving medical attention. According to Police, the driver of the car is presently in custody assisting with the investigations. (G13)
