Mackenzie complete double at Janet and Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket finals

The National Sports Commission’s (NSC) 11th edition of the Janet and Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket Championship concluded in Region 10 with Mackenzie High School securing both the boys’ and girls’ titles at the Batofago Ground in Canvas City.
The tournament, organised by the Region 10 Sport Office under Alister Munroe and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS), saw Mackenzie High School complete a clean sweep in the finals.

In the Janet Jagan Girls’ final, New Silver City Secondary batted first and posted 35-2 from their allotted overs. Mackenzie High School responded confidently, reaching 36 without loss to secure the championship.
The Cheddi Jagan boys’ final saw Linden Foundation Secondary invited to take first strike, and they managed 57-1, led by an unbeaten 54 from Joseph Hall. Mackenzie High School successfully chased the target, finishing on 59-3, with Rashawn Nero top-scoring with 46.

Organisers extended gratitude to the Region 10 Education Officer, the Secondary Schools Officer, management of the Batofago Ground, head teachers, teachers, officials of AL Sport and Tour Promotions, and the students who participated in the competition.
Special acknowledgement was also given to the NSC and the MYCS for supporting the programme.
