Magnum Futsal Independence Cup: Optimum entertainment promised with weekend fixtures

With just a few nights into its commencement, the Magnum Futsal Independence Cup has already witnessed shocking upsets and scintillating encounters. With action started just last Sunday evening, this fascinating tournament has already inflamed the excitement of futsal fans, although, according to those spearheading the event, there is so much more the tournament will offer.
Organiser Edison Jefford, in speaking with <<Guyana Times Sport>> during Wednesday evening’s games, pointed out that the reception thus far has exceeded the organiser’s expectations.
“Actually, we didn’t anticipate such a great start. The competition has been great, in terms of the competitive level of the teams. They said they were anticipating this, coming out of COVID, so they were excited to actually get back playing outside, and we see that coming out in the level of competition and participation,” Jefford told this publication.

He added, “Just tonight, my Technical Coordinator Mr. Griffith had a phone call from a team wanting to enter the competition, so we know the interest is there.”
This particular tournament, and others like it, is usually hosted indoors, but with Magnum’s shift to the National Park Tarmac, Jefford said, he has noticed a shift in the momentum.
The organiser shared, “What we’ve observed is that the momentum has shifted. We usually keep this tournament indoors, but we came outdoors for the first time, and we have all the support of the teams; all of the communities have been represented.
“That’s a good sign for us, that we’ve been able to shift the dynamics to the outdoor format, and it’s been great so far.”
With games scheduled for both nights this weekend, Jefford has promised that Magnum would deliver on the quality of games, vibes and giveaways for patrons.
“This brand is known for its excitement, its dynamic and its vibey appeal, so we’ll continue to bring that kind of dancehall feel to the football. So, we’ll continue to ensure our premiums, our giveaways, are excellent,” he related.
Jefford added, “We encourage people to continue to come out, support their communities, support their favourite players and their teams; and you never know, you might win something.”
