GCC produced an impressive batting performance before defeating Transport Sport Club (TSC) by 62 runs at the Transport Sports Club ground, while Malteenoes showed tremendous resilience to overcome hosts Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by 22 runs at the GDF ground.
At Transport, TSC won the toss and elected to bowl, but GCC made them pay with an imposing total of 210 all out in 20 overs.
Joshua Wade led the charge with an explosive 53 from just 23 deliveries, striking five fours and five sixes. Rivaldo Phillips provided a late flourish with a blistering 36 from only 10 balls, while Martin Pestano-Bell contributed 28 from 20 deliveries, including one four and two sixes.
Reyaz Latif was the pick of the Transport bowlers with 4-42, while Shaun Massiah supported with 3-20.
In reply, Transport struggled to keep pace with the required rate and were eventually dismissed for 148 in 19.4 overs.
Emmanuel Lewis top-scored with 35 from 25 balls, including three fours and three sixes, while Jadon Campbell made 34 from 21 deliveries, striking two fours and three sixes.
Yeudistir Persaud spearheaded the GCC bowling attack with an impressive 4-23, while Krsna Singh provided valuable support with 2-16 to secure the 62-run victory.
Meanwhile, at the GDF ground, Malteenoes produced a determined all-round performance to overcome the home side in a low-scoring encounter and secure their place in the final.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, MSC found conditions challenging on a difficult batting surface and were bowled out for 88 in 18.3 overs.
Shemroy Barrington top-scored with 22 from 20 deliveries, including three fours and a six, while captain Shaquille Mosely contributed 18 and veteran Marcus Watkins added 15.
Demitri Cameron led the GDF bowling attack with 3-25, while Nigel Deodot, Leon Andrews and Gilbert Griffith claimed two wickets each.
However, GDF’s chase never got going as Malteenoes unleashed a relentless bowling attack, with their spinners doing most of the damage to dismiss the hosts for just 66 in 13.1 overs.
Nichosie Barker provided the early breakthrough, trapping Adrian Sukhwa leg-before-wicket with the first delivery of the innings. Jonte Thomas and Watkins then maintained the pressure with regular strikes as GDF struggled to build partnerships.
Thomas was the chief destroyer with an excellent 4-23 from his four overs, while Watkins claimed 2-12 and Barker finished with 2-14. Seamers Delon Dalrymple and Jeremiah Scott chipped in with a wicket apiece.
The disciplined bowling effort ensured Malteenoes secured a hard-fought 22-run victory and joined GCC in the championship final.
