Marics & Co sponsors Super Honda motorcycle as MVP prize

GFF Super 16 Cup tournament…

Marketing Manager of Marics and Company, Anji Hackett, has committed that company to supporting the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF’s) annual Super 16 Cup, the 2019 edition of which kicked off on Sunday last at the Police Sports Club Ground at Eve Leary with a double-header.

Hackett has handed over a Super Honda BB motorcycle to GFF President Wayne Forde, to be used as a prize for the ‘most valuable player’ of the tournament.
“Marics and Company would like to congratulate GFF and company for hosting once again (their) Annual Super 16 Tournament. We are excited to be a part of this big fixture. We know they have teams coming from all across Guyana, so we just want to wish everybody well,” Hackett said.
GFF President Wayne Forde, in receiving the prize, said, “Marics has been an enduring partner of the GFF over the many years, and we are very happy to welcome them on board of this year’s GFF Super 16. As we know, the bike is going towards the MVP, and we are happy to partner with Marics to present this valuable gift to one of our most gifted players, who will emerge at the end of the tournament in 2020.”
The team that wins this straight knockout tournament would receive a purse of $2 million, while the runners-up team will pocket $1 million and the team placing third would cart off $500,000. The team placing fourth would receive $250,000.
The teams in the tournament are Milerock, Pele FC, Police, Timehri Panthers, Fruta Conquerors, Buxton Stars, GDF, Rivers View, Western Tigers, Santos FC, Eagles, Riddim Squad and Den Amstel. The remaining two participating teams would respectively represent the champions of the Berbice and Essequibo qualifiers.
Forde has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the various sponsors of the event, which include Pegasus Hotel, which presented the GFF with a cheque for $1 million to be used on the event; Marics and Company, MACORP, BACIF, THAG, MVP Sports, E.C. Vieira Investments, HJ Entertainment, Impressions and NAMILCO.
