Home Sports McGill Super Stars Sports Club reflects on bittersweet 2020
The McGill Super Stars Sports Club of Canal #1 Polder, WBD has not been involved in competitive cricket for approximately one year because of the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Guyana.
This inactivity has had a significant effect on members of the club, who have not been able to have any pitch practice or involvement in real life match scenarios.
They find it difficult to stay away from cricket for this long, knowing this abstention is unprecedented, and they are hoping that cricket as they know it can resume soon.
For its part, the Club has issued stern warnings to its active members not to participate in any illegal competitions hosted by private individuals, because the club wants to play its part in fighting this global pandemic by further educating its members and community about the dangers of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and how to stay safe from the deadly virus.
COVID-19 has brought a halt to cricket countrywide, but members of this club are doing independent work to keep themselves fit and ready for the impending return of competition cricket.
It is very regrettable that the year 2020 was a dismal year for sporting activities worldwide, but, hopefully, 2021 would be a much better time for sporting activities.
The members and executives of the McGill Super Stars Sports Club would like to wish their fans happiness and safety during the holiday period and during these difficult times.
A special festive greeting goes out to the owners of Candy Box, a newly established catering business located at Rosignol, West Coast Berbice (Region 5), who have been very supportive of cricket despite having just set up business. The Candy Box has special offers on packages, which include fresh roses, artificial roses, chocolates and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. These can be perfect gifts for a loved one this season.
The Candy Box can be contacted on 648-8739, and surprisingly, they do delivery from Berbice to Georgetown.
