Mercy Hospital opens senior citizen’s home

The St Joseph Mercy Hospital on Tuesday opened the doors of the newly-built Resident Care Facility at Pere Street, Kitty, Georgetown, for senior citizens, in a continued manifestation of its tradition of serving the elderly in society.

hosted at the modern facility, applauded the efforts of the organisation in recognising the needs of senior citizens to live in comfort, while praising the superior standard of the home as an indication of the physical and psychological well-being of upcoming occupants.

“I know that much thought and deliberation has gone into the development of this residence and I am privileged to be among you today as it is officially opened,” were the words of the First Lady.

Chairman of the hospital’s Board, Carlton Joao in presenting a synopsis of the facility’s history, held that the organisation has received much-needed support pending completion of the facility. He proudly declared that the home was ready and very much willing to provide much-needed service to the elderly in the country.
