Miner arraigned for fatally stabbing teen 4 months after incident

Jason Howard was arraigned for the 2020 Christmas Eve day murder of 19-year-old Neville Moonsammy Jr when he appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on December 24, 2020, he murdered 19-year-old Neville Moonsammy. The case will continue on August 6, 2021.
It was reported that the now dead teen was in the company of his father and a friend when he was killed. According to Police, the dead man’s father and his friend were also attacked.
Reports are that the teen, his father and the friend were imbibing at a shop at Four Miles, North West District (NWD), and after some time, they decided to go home.
According to the dead man’s father, they were talking to two females along the Four Miles Access Road when his son, who had been standing a short distance away from them, ran towards him with a bloodied left hand.
Soon after, the teenager was attacked by a group of men who stabbed him to his face, while another wounded the friend.
After committing the act, the suspects reportedly made good their escape. The injured teen was taken to the Port Kaituma Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
