Miner beaten while protesting non-payment by employer

A miner was on Thursday beaten by a gang of men while protesting non-payment by his employers in the vicinity of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, Avenue of the Republic.
The injured man has been identified as Randolph Mc Adams, 43, of no fixed place of abode.
Based on reports received, on the day in question at about 13:30h, the victim was picketing the alleged non-payment by his employer, who is a gold miner.
Whilst in the process, the now injured man was approached by a group of men during which he was abused and subsequently beaten.
However, Mc Adams was rescued by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Brickdam Police Station where a report was made. He was later escorted to the Police Medical Centre where he was examined and issued a medical certificate in his favour.
The Police are on the hunt for the main instigator, “Oscar”, and a group of men.
