A 44-year-old man was on Tuesday nabbed with a quantity of ganja at First Avenue, Bartica Arcade, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Police stated that acting on information received, a party of Policemen went to the Bartica Arcade where the suspect was seen carrying two bags. Upon seeing the Police, the man allegedly attempted to escape, but he was apprehended.
The ganja that was found on the miner
Upon his apprehension, a search was conducted on his person during which one bulky parcel wrapped in transparent plastic was found in his bag.
Upon further inspection, the ganja was found and he admitted ownership. The cannabis was taken to the Bartica Police Station, where it was weighed in his presence and amounted to 495 grams.
Suspect was placed in custody pending charges.
