Minister Hamilton kicks off Region 7 exhibition football

Labour Minister Joseph Hamilton, MP, kicked off the ball to open an exhibition football match series in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on Saturday.
The two-day event, at the Bartica Community Centre Ground, saw River’s View going up against Potaro Strikers. The visiting team, Pouderoyen, West Coast Demerara, played against Rising Stars.

Minister Hamilton said that he was pleased to be present at the exhibition game and spoke of Government’s commitment to the development of sports in Guyana.
Currently, there are eight football clubs under the Bartica Football Association (BFA). BFA is a member of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF). BFA President Alden Marslowe said that the clubs consisted of junior and senior players and the Association was pushing to include a women’s club.
Also present at the event were Region Seven Prime Ministerial Representative Ewrin Ward, Regional Democratic Council (RDC) Tourism Board Chairman Stephen Belle and Bartica Mayor Gifford Marshal. (DPI)
