As the Miss World Guyana competition intensifies, the seven remaining delegates are in a fierce battle for the coveted crown. The pageant night is slated for May 27 at the Parc Rayne, Rahaman’s Park, Georgetown.
Those competing for the title are Miss Barima-Waini Divya Yabindranauth, Miss Pomeroon-Supenaam Najuma Nelson, Miss Essequibo Islands-West Demerara Marva Langevine, Miss Demerara-Mahaica Ariella Basdeo, Miss Mahaica-Berbice Ashmini Ramnauth, Miss Cuyuni-Mazaruni Treasure James and Miss Potaro-Siparuni Nurriyah Gerrard.
The talent segment was held over the last weekend in the studios of E-Networks which saw the seven finalists clashing head on, but in the end, only three were adjudged the best of the best – Nelson, James and Gerrard. The winner of the talent segment will be announced on the grand coronation night on May 27.
The judges for this segment included Lisa Punch; reigning Miss World Guyana Grace Lee; Shivanie Lachmansingh, Dr Indhira Harry; Phillip Williams of PS Media Group; Tiana Codrington and franchise holder Natasha Martindale. The judges were selected based on their knowledge of, and experience, in the performing arts.
The delegates also competed in the sports and fitness segments. Again, the winner will be announced on the coronation night.
Now that those segments are over, the delegates will be heading to the Pegasus Hotel for the interview competition set for May 23. That contest starts at 08:00h. In addition, the delegates will be judged on their “Beauty with a Purpose” project on the same day commencing at 18:00h.
On the coronation night, the finalists will be competing in the swimsuit, evening gown and the intelligence segments. The top three in the talent segment will also be performing for the audience.
VIP tickets for the grand coronation cost $7500, while general admission tickets will cost $5000 and will be available at Nigel’s Super Market, Robb Street; Parc Rayne, Rahaman’s Park; Cara Lodge, Quamina Street and Giftland Mall, Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
