The Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) Cricket Club defeated their Strikers counterparts by four wickets to advance to Sunday’s final against Bangladesh Tigers in the Commonwealth Cricket League in New York.

Alex Algoo top-scored for MMZ with an unbeaten 45

Batting first, Strikers managed 103 all out in 19.3 overs, while MMZ achieved the target in 19 overs, ending on 107-6.
The ball got rolling early for MMZ when the Strikers opener, former Guyana batsman Richard Ramdeen, was removed for a golden duck. Ramdeen was caught at covers playing the very first ball of the match, which was bowled by eventual “Player of the Match” Nicholas Chinkoo.
Strikers’ wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as MMZ injected some tight bowling. Mohammad Asif, batting at number six for Strikers, was the top-scorer with 36 from 34 balls, which included three sixes and two fours.

Bowling for MMZ, whose collective effort won them the match, former Guyana Under-19 player Chinkoo collected 3-11, and polished off three catches as he continued his consistent run in the league.
Kelvin Shewpersaud claimed 3-22 in his four overs, while Gajanand Singh took 2-20 while also bowling one maiden over.
In reply, MMZ lost Kashif Shaw for a single, but Singh and Guyana Under-19 batsman Alex Algoo joined forces. Singh was removed for a shot- filled 19, but Algoo played through the innings to lead his team in the chase.
Algoo slammed two sixes and four fours in his unbeaten 45 from 35 balls, while Azurdeen Mohammed contributed 16 down the order as MMZ ended on 107-6 in 19 overs.
MMZ will lock horns with Bangladesh Tigers on Sunday in the Super Eights final of the Commonwealth Cricket League in New York.
