Motorcyclist succumbs 3 days after ECD accident

Ronaldo Sauldrepaul, a 29-year-old security officer and resident of the Venezuela Scheme at Melanie, East Coast Demerara (ECD), succumbed on Tuesday evening at a city hospital, where he was receiving treatment for injuries he sustained in a serious accident that occurred last Saturday at about 18:55h on the Plaisance Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

Reports are that Sauldrepaul was proceeding west along the southern driving lane of the Plaisance Public Road on a motorcycle when motorcar PPP 6446 drove north from out of Prince William Street, onto the Plaisance Public Road and into the pathway of the motorcyclist.
The resulting collision caused the motorcyclist to receive injuries about his body. He was assisted by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit, and was subsequently transported to the Woodlands Hospital to seek medical attention.
Police ranks visited the hospital where Sauldrepaul was admitted, and saw him in an unconscious state receiving medical attention.
However, on Tuesday at about 20:00h, Sauldrepaul succumbed to his injuries. His body has been escorted to a city mortuary to await a PME.
The car driver has been placed on $300,000 station bail. (G9)
