Nabi offering Presidential excellence to Guyana Amazon Warriors

Forty-one-year-old Mohammad Nabi has been an excellent performer for Afghanistan over the years, and he is continuing his Presidential excellence for the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW).
From being named MVP in the recently concluded Global Super League, Nabi started this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with a player of the match performance.
He claimed 4-22 and scored 19 runs as the Amazon Warriors cruised to a six-wicket win against the Jamaica Kingsmen.
Captain of GAW, Imran Tahir, showered praise on Nabi and the value he brings to the team.
“He is an experienced guy. So I think we knew our plan before we came, where we need to bowl. And, yeah, I think once you come and you bowl a couple of balls, you need to adjust with the conditions quite quickly,” Tahir said.

Meanwhile, Nabi reflected on the game and conditions, stating that there was some turn and bounce on offer.
“We practised three sessions there, and planning for bowling from that side … bigger side, and also against wind, and targeting the leg side and most of the time bowling top spin. Because with that angle, it looks like it’s going to midwicket, but it’s top spin, it’s tough to hit.”
“I don’t know. It’s a negative mentality about most of the coaches or something like that. But it depends on the situation and pitch condition, grounds, and bigger size as well. If the bowlers are clever and use the condition accordingly, and pitching the ball on the right area, it’ll be tough to hit,” Nabi explained.
“Yeah, with the new ball, it was a little bit skiddy, and after the 10 overs, there was a little bit of hold. There was a little bit turn and bounce as well. That’s why we bowled on a line and length to get wickets and bring them under pressure,” Nabi said.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors will play their next game on Wednesday, August 19, against St Lucia at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
