ꟷ Boxing event set for September 28

It all goes down on Saturday September 28 at the Durban Park in Georgetown, when Next Gen Global Marketing and Hits & Jams Entertainment present “Not In My House” – an event

Some of the participants alongside GBBC President Peter Abdool, Promoter Aleem Hussain, and members of the Caribbean Knockout Programme

featuring more than 50 rounds of top quality boxing, which is scheduled to commence at 18:30 hrs.
When this event was launched, Promoter Aleem Hussain said, “The Guyana Boxing Board of Control and the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) have sanctioned this event. The GABA has stated that all the fighters that are on the Gold Medal Team… will be participating on the amateur level, and we are bringing in a special contestant to compete with Keevin Allicock, because we feel it is time for him to move up to the next level.”
President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC), Peter Abdool, who also made remarks, said the greatest difficulty in Guyana is the lack of promotion in boxing. He noted that what Nex Gen has brought to the table is an entirely new concept by which boxing can be marketed on a larger scale, as the GBBC does not have that marketing ability.
“…essentially, the event will be held at the Durban Park, which is a large place. The place will be opened free of cost to the public, which will draw a large crowd on the night of the event. The Boxing Board is excited that this concept is going to embrace this idea. We want to have a decent card for the first event. People like Dexter Marques haven’t had a fight in a long time, so we are trying our best to correct this. With this particular format, I can’t see people not coming to this event.
“It will be a wonderful event, inclusive of the after-party. If this concept is pulled off, we will have more fights, as our amateur boys will be able to pick up more experience along the way and become better prepared,” Abdool noted.
The main event of the night will see Dexter Marques battling Jose Antonio Jimenez from Colombia, who has been undefeated in 21 fights.
Marques has said he is grateful for the opportunity to showcase his talent, and will be aiming to redeem himself on ‘judgment day’.
He said he lost in a fight with a Colombian a few years ago, but things will be different this time around, because his aim is to “demolish Jimenez”.
There will also be an after- party powered by 94.1FM and HJ Entertainment Guyana Carnival.
