Noel places fifth in 100m Freestyle as CAC campaign continues

Raekwon Noel missed out on a third medal as the ongoing Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games continued in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
On Thursday morning, Noel extended his stellar run at the competition, booking a place in the 100m butterfly final.

Noel competed in the second of four heats, hitting the board at 53.28s for first place and the fastest qualifying time. Trinidad and Tobago’s Dylan Carter was second in 54.93s while Bermuda’s Elijah Baily was third with 55.35s.
However, fortunes were not the same for the double gold- medallist in Thursday evening’s final as he clocked 53.58s for fifth place.
Venezuela’s Manuel Diaz claimed the gold medal in 52.45s, followed by his countryman Jorge Otaiza in 52.91 for silver and the top three was rounded out by Trinidad and Tobago’s Dylan Carter in 52.99s.
The 20-year-old Guyanese will be looking to rebound with two more events at the CAC Games in the coming days.
