Solid knocks from Matthew Cheong and Navindra Sooklall gave Noitgedacht SC a 33-run victory over Sachin Dindyal XI in a 30-over U19 match played on Tuesday at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.
Cheong and Sooklall added 69 for the third-wicket after they lost openers Khemraj Dass (17) and Arvinda Rai (10), as Noitgedacht SC posted 225-7, taking first strike. Cheong slammed eight fours and three sixes in a top score of 76 while Sooklall hit three fours and one six in his 53. Parmamand Rai contributed 27 as Marlon Dindyal was the pick of the bowlers with 4-26 while there was one each for Mahase Ramnarine, Bhumeshwar Ramkissoon and David Chalitar.
In the run chase, openers Tushall Surujpaul and Ramkissoon put on 54 for the first wicket to give Dindyal XI a solid start before the latter was dismissed for 28 while Surujpaul who timed the ball well made 36 with four fours.
Mahase Ramnarine slammed two sixes and a similar number of fours but after he went for 35, Noitgedacht SC picked up some quick wickets to restrict their opponents for 192-9. Sachin Dindyal contributed 14 as Navin Persaud picked three wickets while Cheong and Imran Khan had two each. Cheong was named man-of-the-match. Following the game the players were involved a coaching session with Nandkishore Andrews and Zaheer Mohamed.
