Present at the simple ceremony was Director of Sports, Christopher Jones, who said, “We’ve received requests from various organisations and federations for the athletes to compete in Sweden for the World Classic Powerlifting Championships and in the United States for the Penn Relay 2019.”
Receiving a cheque valued $900,000 was committee member of the GAPLF, David Gomes, who related that the Federation is grateful to the NSC for the donation, as it would assist in bolstering the team.
The New Campbellville Secondary School’s Head Mistress, Ms Gayle Archer, was the recipient of a cheque valued at $1,000,000 on behalf of the school. That will assist in the upcoming Penn Relays, which will feature a contingent out of Fort Wellington, Guyana Technical Institute, and the New Campbellville Secondary School representing Guyana.
Coach of the Campbellville Secondary School, Christopher Gaskin, said, “The team being sent is comprised of eight males and nine (females), they are expected to leave on April 21 and return (on) April 30. In general, we expect great performance, as we have done it in the first phase, and are expected to do such in the upcoming games.”
The NSC financial assistance given for the month of March was to Alque Stanley, who was given $400,000 towards his tuition in pursuit of his degree at GC Foster College of Physical Education.
Clive Atwell of the Donald Allison Ricola Gym was given $300,000 to participate in the Goodwill boxing competition in Dominica.
