NSC supports PanAm badminton team with $1.6M

The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) has benefited from the National Sports Commission’s (NSC’s) generosity, demonstrated on Friday by the donation of $1.6M to enable the GBA to participate in this year’s Yonex Panam Individual Championships, which are set for staging in San Salvador, El Salvador from April 26-30.

Ramdhani siblings Narayan and Priyanna, along with Akili Haynes and Tyrese Jeffrey, will be Guyana’s representatives at the 15th edition of this tournament.

After wishing the team success at the PanAm Championships, Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, lauded the GBA for their continuous push to develop the sport.

Meanwhile, according to the GBA, Narayan Ramdhani, ranked 366 (Singles) and 297 (Mixed-Doubles) in the world, is attending the tournament to get the necessary ranking points to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Priyanna Ramdhani, ranked 411 (Singles) and 297 (Mixed-Doubles) in the world, will be seeking higher ranking points, while also helping her brother Narayan to gain more points by playing the mixed-doubles events with him.
Haynes and Jeffrey are also aiming to increase their ranking points, and will be competing in the singles,
doubles and mixed-doubles categories.
