Speaking with reporters after the event on Sunday, one of the members of the “One Guyana” Racing team, Nazurdeen Mohamed, thanked the Government of Guyana for their input in ensuring the South Dakota Circuit was up to international standards for the Guyana Grand Prix:
“This is amazing work that was done here, the support, supporting GMR&SC [the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club]; this alone puts us on the world stage.”
He further stated that Redford has proven himself a talented driver despite being young.

“He is a very young driver, and we are going to look to continue touring in this series with him and even abroad in the UK.”
He added that they have a world-class team, including engineers and other members, while emphasising that the entire team is nothing but the best that they brought to ensure this victory.
“The customers are happy, and I want to thank Peter Lewis for believing in us, and we gave him our all. We had lots of trouble… we weren’t able to test the car… we weren’t even able to run the car on practice day… it was issues on top of issues, but to have the results we have had is an amazing feeling,” Mohamed stated.
Meanwhile, former GMR&SC President Raj Boodhoo, who has been instrumental in bringing the GT Challenge de las Américas to Guyana, told reporters that he was excited about the event, which promotes and showcases sports tourism in Guyana.

The staring grid on Sunday

“I think it’s the best thing we can achieve, and I think there is much room to grow, and we are on point. There is still work to do on the track and finishing and all, but many are just excited to come back next year and in future years. The track is almost 99 per cent there,” he stated.
He added that they needed to address some safety and other minor issues, but all in all, they have laid the foundation and will work to elevate it to a different status.
“This is just a platform and a launching pad. It is going to grow tremendously from here,” Boodhoo added.
