Over 220 allottees begin land identification at Hoff Van Aurich

– remaining lots to be ready within a month as infrastructure works 90% complete

More than 200 allottees at the Hoff Van Aurich New Housing Development on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), have accessed their residential lots, as the Housing Ministry through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) advances development works in the area.

Subject Minister Collin Croal joined beneficiaries during the lot identification exercise on Thursday, which commenced with 214 residential lots that are ready to be shown to their respective owners.
The exercise follows the Minister’s visit to the region two weeks ago, when he updated residents on ongoing infrastructure works and housing construction across the Essequibo Coast.
Croal said infrastructure works at Hoff Van Aurich are approximately 90 per cent complete, with the remaining lots expected to be ready for identification within the next month.
“We are pleased that persons are now able to identify and access their lots and begin the process towards construction,” the Minister said.
With the continued advancement of works, more than 500 beneficiaries are expected to have access to their respective lots before the end of the year. Electricity installation has also commenced within the development.
The Minister further disclosed that the Ministry expects to commence the signing of Agreements of Sale before year-end, paving the way for beneficiaries to advance the processing of their ownership documents and building plans.
Meanwhile, works are progressing on the main access road that will eventually connect Hoff Van Aurich to the new housing development being prepared at Perseverance.
The ministry is targeting an initial 1,000 allocations within that development as part of its wider efforts to address the housing application backlog in the region.
Croal, however, urged allottees who have identified their lots to regularly monitor and maintain their properties to guard against encroachment and ensure that the boundaries identified by surveyors remain intact.
He also encouraged beneficiaries to use this period to begin preparing their building plans and engaging financial institutions to determine mortgage requirements, including income eligibility and the documentation necessary to secure financing.
While building plans cannot yet be processed until the Agreements of Sale are signed, the Minister noted that completing these preparatory steps will allow beneficiaries to move more quickly towards financing and construction once their documentation is in place.
Allottees were also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Single Window Planning Approval System, through which building and planning applications are processed.
The ongoing works at Hoff Van Aurich form part of the Ministry’s broader housing development programme on the Essequibo Coast, aimed at opening new lands, improving infrastructure and creating greater opportunities for homeownership.
