Played at Fairfield Sports club ground, yesterday, the host were dismissed for 46 in 19.4 overs before Chase raced to 47-2 with close to 20 overs to spare.
Earlier the host team skipper and National Under 15 player, Shoaib Shaw opted to take first strike. However, it seem a bad decision from the start as new ball bowler Sachin Singhbowled Omprakash Bharrat for one in the first over of the match.
It was Kadeam Parris’ show thereafter as the young medium fast bowler captured 6-17 from his six over spell to end as his team’s most effective bowler. He was well supported by Tairhus Payne who claimed 2-5 from three overs while spinner Dwayne Dick and Singh collected one wicket apiece. In total, Mahaicony’s batsmen only muster 29 runs as 17 came through extras.
In reply, Chase lost two early wickets; that of opener Garrick Persaud for nought followed by Dick who batted at number 3. Windell Fordyce accounted for both victims.
The champions’ most in-form batsman this season, Singh finished on 20 not out while Nedd was with him unbeaten on four.
Chase will now play the winners of the Berbice zone, on Friday to secure a place in the final.
