The Government has launched a new patient feedback system aimed at improving accountability and service delivery across Guyana’s public healthcare sector, just hours after President Dr Irfaan Ali announced plans for the initiative during the commissioning of the $230 million Regional Medical Distribution Centre at Onderneeming, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Saturday, President Ali said the Government would introduce a patient feedback portal linked to the national pharmaceutical supply chain, allowing patients to report their experiences in accessing medication. He explained that information submitted through the system would be transmitted directly through the accountability chain to the Minister of Health.
“That is the level of accountability we’re building in the system,” President Ali said. Later on Saturday, the President announced on his social media page that the Patient Feedback System had been introduced as part of the Government’s efforts to continuously improve the quality, accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services.
The system allows patients to share their experiences after visiting a healthcare facility by scanning a QR code displayed on posters at health institutions or by completing a short online feedback form. According to the Government, the process can be completed in less than one minute and may be done anonymously or with the patient’s identity disclosed.
The platform is also accessible at any time from any location. In the post, the head of state said patient feedback will help identify strengths and areas requiring improvement within the health system, enhance service delivery and patient care standards, support data-driven decision-making across healthcare facilities and strengthen accountability and responsiveness. The Government is encouraging members of the public to use the system, noting that every response will contribute to improving healthcare services for patients and communities throughout Guyana.
