Pedro to coach 20-member Guyana squad at CFU under-14 Challenge Series

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has named a 20-member boys’ squad to represent the country at the 2026 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Challenge Series in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Guyana will compete in Tier II, Group C, and will begin its campaign against Montserrat on Sunday, August 16. The young Golden Jaguars will then face Anguilla on Monday, August 17, before completing their group fixtures against the Bahamas on Wednesday, August 19.
Jamal Pedro will serve as Head Coach of the national team, marking his first assignment in charge of a Guyana side. Technical Director Bryan Joseph also played a key role in overseeing the team’s preparation.
The goalkeepers selected are Isaiah Pellew of Ann’s Grove United and Royston Winter of Gladiators Football Club.

The defenders are Fabio Kowlessar, Isaac Taylor, Adiel Hamilton, Daniel Chesney, Teon Francis, Malik Sobers, and Dylan Kendall.
Gilbert Frank, Wyatt Fernandes, Dane Vancouten, Asher McInyre, Wayshawn Forde, and Andrew Brown make up the midfield group.
The forwards are Cavon Peters, Dontay Kowlessar, Aaron Vasconcellos, Luzon Dos Santos, and Nash Moe.
The squad includes players attached to clubs and academies in Guyana, along with overseas-based footballers from the United States and England.
Kendall is attached to Bearsted Football Club in England, while Forde represents Potomac Football Club in the United States. Brown is listed with Colorado Rapids Football Club Academy in the US.
Several locally based players were selected from the Vurlon Mills Football Academy, while the squad also includes representatives from Fruta Conquerors, Ithaca Football Club, Buxton Stars, Pouderoyen Sports Club, Gladiators Football Club, and Ann’s Grove United.
The squad was selected following four months of preparation under the FIFA Talent Development Scheme. The programme is designed to identify promising footballers and provide them with a structured pathway towards regional and international competition.
The local programme brings together the country’s leading young male and female players for year-round training under the supervision of the GFF’s National Coaches Pool.
It currently includes a core group of approximately 24 players and a wider training pool of about 30. While most participants are drawn from the coastal regions, the programme also provides opportunities for players from the hinterland and other parts of the country.
GFF President Wayne Forde praised Joseph, Pedro, the coaching staff and the players for their commitment during the preparation period.
Forde said the Talent Development Scheme had made a significant contribution to the team’s preparation and urged the players to represent Guyana with professionalism, discipline and respect.
The Federation also congratulated all the players who participated in the programme during the selection process and expressed confidence in Pedro as he prepares for his first national assignment as a Head Coach.
