Persaud and crew lead McGill to comprehensive win over Belle Vue

McGill Superstars took on the Belle Vue Sports Club in a one-sided affair on Tuesday October 19, and emerged victors, thanks to a brilliant 72 from Travis Persaud and notable contributions from the entire team.
Former national under-19 right-handed opening batsman Ronaldo Renee and former Guyana under-19 captain Travis Persaud featured in a partnership of 55 for the 1st wicket, executing some entertaining shots before Renee was caught for 36 (2×6,6×4) in the 6th over off the bowling of left-arm spinner Ricardo Adams.
Former national youth player Kheshram Seyhodan then joined Persaud at the crease, and the duo rotated the strike nicely and picked up the odd boundaries, putting on 90 for the 2nd wicket partnership before Seyhodan was stumped for 39 (2×6,1×4) off the bowling of Ricardo Adams at 145-2 in the 14th over.
Abdul Razack then joined forces with Persaud, and the duo took the score to 163 before Persaud (72: 2×6,6×4) fell, caught at long on to off-spinner Boodram Bharat in the 16th over.
Former national youth all-rounder Daniel Basdeo (1) came and went quickly, Adams having him caught at mid-wicket at 147-3.

Travis Persaud scored a fluent 72

Razack (19), Ganesh Puran (11*) and Mark Jeffers (12) all played handy cameos to see their team to a mammoth total of 208-6 by the time their 20 overs had expired.
Having to score more than 10 runs per over, Belle Vue SC were always behind the 8 ball. Ricardo Adams and Randy Ramroop put on 60 for the 1st wicket partnership before Adams, on 26 (1×6,3×4), was comprehensively bowled by a beauty from right arm seamer Mark Jeffers in the 8th over.
Jeffers then removed Ramroop for 15 (2×4) in the same over, caught behind at 62-2.
Off-spinner Abdul Razack and national left arm spinner Kheshram Seyhodan tightened the screws in the middle overs, Razack having Sheldon Alexander (14:1×6,1×4) caught at long on in the 11th over at 95-3. Seyhodan then removed Ryan Seecharran (15: 1×6,2×4) caught at backward point in the 14th over at 114-4.
Off-spinner Travis Persaud came in and joined forces with leg spinner Ganesh Puran. The duo proved to be unplayable on a surface which offered some assistance to spinners. Persaud removed Colin Boucher (25:2×6,2×4) caught at backward point at 124-5 in the 17th over.
Belle Vue managed to amass a total of 144-5 in their 20 Overs, losing by 64 runs to Mc Gill.
Mc Gill spinners proved to be economical, with Persaud, Puran, Razack and Seyhodan finishing their quota of overs with figures of 1-14, 0-15, 1-24 and 1-28 respectively. Jeffers was the pick of the Mc Gill bowlers with 2-26 off his 4 overs.
