Caribbean Sports Club, Invaders Masters record wins in ESCL tourney

The Caribbean Sports Club and the Invaders Masters have each recorded wins last Sunday in the continuation of the Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ECSL) 20-overs, over-40 competition played at the Richmond ground in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
The Caribbean Sports Club beat the Ravens by nine runs in an exciting match, while the Invaders Masters roared to a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against the Queenstown Tigers at the same venue.
Caribbean Sports Club tallied a challenging 215-6 from the allotment of 20 overs, while Ravens, in response, were left hanging at 206-8 when their overs expired.
Sugrim Ahiram led the way for the Ravens with an impressive 55, while meaningful contributions came from Safraz Alli with 31 and Glendon Smith with 25.
Eshwar Singh was the most successful bowler for the Caribbean Sports Club with two for 29 from his four overs.

In the Caribbean Sports Club’s innings, Surendra Manchal hit a top-score of 47 not out, and Ekie Baksh offered classic support with 44 not out. Captain Naresh Narine also contributed an excellent 44. Punraj Singh snatched two wickets for 31 runs from his maximum four overs.
Invaders made light work of Queenstown Tigers, as their confrontation was less intense. Tigers only mustered an inadequate 124 all out off 18.5 overs, while Invaders Masters surged to victory in the 11th over.
Davendra Madho cracked 42 to lead the way, while the experienced Patrick Rooplall contributed 29 for the winning combination. Former senior Essequibo inter-county all-rounder Ramesh Narine claimed two wickets for 17 runs off his four overs to help Invaders Masters in the bowling department.
In the other fixture Sunrisers Masters got a walk-over, as Reliance Hustlers did not show.
The competition is slated to continue this Sunday with three more matches.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the League, Wakeel Layne, has said the previous round was satisfactory, and exciting cricket continues to prevail in the first edition of the competition. He informed that followers can get updates on the League’s website as well.
