Persaud masters Greens to capture SBM Offshore title

Avinash Persaud turned in a commanding performance last Sunday, emerging as the standout player at the SBM Offshore Guyana Golf Tournament hosted by the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC).

Some 43 golfers battled across the greens and fairways in a day marked by healthy competition, camaraderie and quality golf.
Persaud produced the tournament’s best gross score of 69 and, playing off a handicap of 4, finished with a net of 65 to claim the Overall Best Net title.
The tournament brought together golfers of varying handicaps, creating a competitive atmosphere while maintaining the friendly spirit that continues to define events at Lusignan Golf Club. From the opening shots to the final putts, players navigated the course’s fairways and greens while enjoying the opportunity to compete and socialise with fellow golfers.
In the 0–14 handicap flight, Persaud also topped the standings with his net 65. Jim Peck secured second place with a gross of 85, a handicap of 14 and a net of 71, while Ravindra Harry finished third with 81 gross, a handicap of 10 and a net of 71.
The higher-handicap flight saw Kishan Bacchus take first place after carding 83 gross off a 17 handicap for a net of 66. Kevin Budram was second with 85 gross, a handicap of 17 and a net of 68, while Oliver Dawns finished third with 95 gross, a handicap of 25 and a net of 70.
Harry also claimed the Longest Drive prize, while Imtiaz Subhan captured the Nearest to the Pin honours.
The tournament was supported by SBM Offshore Guyana, whose partnership provided another opportunity for golfers to come together while strengthening the relationship between the corporate sector and the local sporting community.
