Plans advance for rehabilitation of LBI cricket facility, hostel

Plans are moving forward to rehabilitate the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)’s indoor practice facility and hostel at La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr recently visited the LBI Cricket Facility to inspect the site and discuss the proposed work with GCB President Bissoondyal Singh and other officials.
The indoor facility has been used in the preparation of Guyana’s national teams and allows players to continue training when rain prevents outdoor practice. It also provides an environment for cricketers to work on their technical skills.
The adjoining hostel, along with the Essequibo Cricket Board Hostel, accommodates players and match officials during inter-county competitions, national training camps and other development programmes.

Earlier this year, Singh raised the rehabilitation of both facilities during discussions with President Irfaan Ali, pointing to their role in supporting local cricket.
During his visit, Ramson also interacted with parents and young players participating in the Demerara Cricket Board Under-13 Tournament, which was being contested at the venue.
Several GCB executives and match officials were present. The board welcomed the planned work, describing the rehabilitation as an important step towards improving cricket infrastructure and player development in Guyana.
