Police destroy over $11M worth of ganja along Berbice River

As police continue their drug eradication exercise along the Berbice River, an operation on Sunday at Gaetroy Savannah, Upper Berbice River, has led to the destruction of over $11 million worth of marijuana.
Police stated that three farms with a combined area of approximately five acres were located, on which approximately 35,000 cannabis plants ranging from two inches to five feet in height were discovered during the nine-hour-long exercise.
In addition, one makeshift camp was also discovered. The cannabis plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire, along with the makeshift camp.
The estimated value of the narcotics destroyed is $11,519,200. At the time of the exercise, no one was arrested.
