Andre McCulman, 25, of Berbice, Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) found himself before the court on Friday charged with illegal possession of gun and trafficking in narcotics.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.
According to the prosecution, on December 21 at Arama River, Berbice, he had in his possession 2000 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and, on the same day at the same location he was found to be in possession of a .32 Tarus revolver without being the legal holder of a firearm licence.
McCulmans attorney requested reasonable bail on his behalf, however the Police prosecutor successfully objected. As such he will be spending Christmas in prison on remand.
The case will continue on January 3, 2017, at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
