Action in the in-house tournament sponsored by the Lusignan Golf Club last Saturday saw standout performances by Maxim Mangra and Patrick Prashad, who stormed to the title with ease.

The results for the day were as follows:
* 1st: Maxim Mangra & Patrick Prashad; Gross 76 Hc 11 Net 65
* 2nd: Aasrodeen Shaw & Ferose Barkatt. Gross 79 Hc 11 Net 68
* 3rd: Shanella London & Pope London. Gross 78 Hc 9 Net 69
* Longest Drive: Videsh Persaud
* NTP: Patrick Prashad

speaking to this publication at end of the tournament, LGC VP Paton George said, “You could pick your own team. Some players went for a team with a higher handicap. This meant that they had an advantage over a team with a lower handicap. That strategy could be good if you played consistent and kept things tight. You don’t have to have the best score, but the handicap, when added in or subtracted, you can have the winning net score.”

According to George, the winning team of Mangra and Prashad chose to go with each other because of their raw abilities to score low. He explained that the duo’s approach to chipping and putting, among other things, was what lead to the overall low score and eventually the title, despite having a relatively low handicap.

“It was a very good strategy by Patrick and Maxim. Patrick also won the closest to the flag, so that’s an indication of their strong play,” he said. “Everyone had a good time, it was fun as usual, we observed all COVID protocols, and the whole atmosphere was festive,” George posited.

George has posited that the type of tournament played is fun. He said the players did enjoy themselves, and a tournament of this kind must be played again. He also said that ninety percent of the LGC tournaments would be stroke play, individual player format, but once in a while the club would sprinkle in a few team tournaments, because they are fun and everyone gets to have a good time.
