President Ali’s Cabinet to be sworn in this afternoon

President Dr Irfaan Ali is expected to swear in his Cabinet this afternoon at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.

After five months of electoral impasse, the Ali-led People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) List of Candidates was announced as the winner of the March 02 General and Regional Elections on Sunday but GECOM Chair Retired Justice Claudette Singh.

He was subsequently sworn in as the country’s 9th Executive President later that day. Immediately after his swearing-in, Dr Ali appointed some members of his Cabinet and had promised to appoint others before the end of the week.

Mark Phillips has been appointed Prime Minister, Bharrat Jagdeo has been appointed Vice President, Anil Nandlall has been appointed Attorney General while Gail Teixeira has been appointed Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance.
