President, family safe; presidential guard injured as gunman attempt to enter State House 

A presidential guard was this morning injured after gunman entered State House compound.

While details are sketchy at this time, Guyana Times understands that the gunman was shot. Police have since cordon off the area. 

Head of the Guyana Police Force’s Communications Unit Mark Ramotar has confirmed that there has been an “incident” at State House but he could not divulge more details. The president and his family are safe.
