Prison officer, nurse robbed during home invasion

Three women – a prison officer, a nurse and a hospital staff – who share a home were on Sunday night attacked and robbed of their valuables by masked gunmen.
Reports are Phenila Rogers, 46, a private hospital employee; Olivia Haymer, 50, and Donelle Charles, 23, all of Lot 312 Lamaha Park, Georgetown, had retired to bed when a strange sound was heard about 03:00h coming from the lower flat of the two-storey house.
Charles, who was in her bedroom, went to check out the source of the sound and was confronted by three masked men.
The men held her at gunpoint and took her back to the upper flat of the house where the other two women were awakened.
Guyana Times understands that the women were all bound and gagged after which they were locked in a room.
One of the gunmen reportedly stood guard while the others ransacked the house and stole a number of items with an estimated cost of $177,000.
The men then escaped through an eastern door on the lower flat of the house.
An investigation has been launched.
