Reifer, Mosely half-centuries highlight 9-wicket day

It is all set for a day 3 finish. An intriguing day two at the National Stadium at Providence saw Guyana Jaguars being bowled out for 201 in their first innings in reply to Barbados Pride’s 76.
After the Jaguars attained a lead of 125, thanks to Reifer’s unbeaten 52, Pride replied in their second innings with 228-6, accumulating a lead of 103 runs.
Barbadian opening batsman Shayne Mosely struck a classy 64 after Carter had hit 47 and Brooks had stroked 44.
Resuming day 2 on 162-7, Guyana Jaguars’ first innings concluded when Jonathan Carter removed their final batsman Veerasammy Permaul at 201 all out in 77 overs.
Romario Shepherd resumed the day on seven, while Reifer rebooted on 33. In the fifth over of the morning, Pride removed Shepherd for nine, trapped in front by paceman Marquino Mindley at 170-8.

After the 30-run partnership between Shepherd and Reifer, the latter continued to keep the scoreboard ticking. Jaguars’ debutant Ramaal Lewis was out for 11 off Jomel Warrican, as Reifer began to run out of partners. The Bajan boy reached his 14th First Class half-century with a boundary off Warrican in 118 balls in an innings that spanned 159 minutes.
He remained unbeaten on 52 from 126 balls in an innings that included seven boundaries.
Bowling for the Pride, medium pacer Carter grabbed 4-42 in 22 overs, while Miguel Cummins and Marquino Mindley had two wickets each. Warrican and Shamar Springer had one wicket apiece in a spirited bowling performance.

Jaguars ended their first innings with a lead of 125 runs. Pride opening batters made their way out to the middle under glorious sunshine post lunch. Rashidi Boucher and Shamarh Brooks negotiated the tricky session, ending on 19-0 in 9 overs at the lunch interval.
Lunch was well served from everyone’s point of view, and two balls into the afternoon session, Sherfane Rutherford struck, shattering the stumps of Boucher for 14 made from 29 balls. At 19-1, Mosely partnered Brooks, and the duo fought hard in a 74-run second wicket partnership. Brooks was the batsman dismissed by Permaul to a ball that kept low.
The Pride captain, Brooks, had looked set for a big score, playing impressive shots, but fell for a solid 44 from 101 balls, which included six boundaries. Carter join forces with Mosely at 93-2, and the duo batted until the tea interval, ending on 115-2 in 40 overs. Moseley stood tall on 42, while Carter was unbeaten on eight, trailing Jaguars by ten runs.

The elegant left handed Shayne Mosely reached his eighth First Class half-century from 89 balls played in 117 minutes when he cleared mid-on with a boundary off the bowling of Permaul. It was the debutant Lewis who, bowling with great control, removed Mosely to a good ball, trapping him in front for a composed 64 made from 120 balls, including 11 boundaries.
The 74-run third wicket partnership concluded at 167-3. Carter continued his great form at the Regional level with mature batting when Aaron Jones came to the crease. Carter, who entered this match on 523 runs this season, was undone by some brilliance at short leg by Tagenarine Chanderpaul. His shining innings of 47 off 72 balls, which included seven fours, came to an end off the bowling of Permaul.
After Carter was dropped on 10 off Johnson at slip, he failed to ride his luck when he departed at 177-4. In Reifer’s final spell, he came and removed Shamar Springer for six, at 192-5, when he was out bowled all ends up. Reifer continued to move the ball late, and he reaped success, trapping Aaron Jones leg before for 15 with the score on 205-6.
Wicket-keeper batsman Tevyn Walcott remained unbeaten on 28 from 36 balls, while Warrican remained unbeaten on three. Pride ended on 228-6 in 71 overs in their second innings. They have a lead of 103 runs. Bowling for Jaguars, Reifer has 2-18 in nine overs, while Permaul has 2-56 in 22 overs. Lewis and Rutherford each have one wicket.
Perhaps the match will be completed today on the penultimate day. The first ball will be bowled at 9:30h local time.
