Longstanding rugby enthusiast, former player, Youth Development Officer, Coach, and former Treasurer of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), Troy Yhip has died, prompting an outpouring of condolences and tributes from the local rugby fraternity and the sports sector.
In an emotional statement via social media, the GRFU said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr Troy Yhip, a former player, Youth Development Officer, coach, and former Treasurer of the Guyana Rugby Union.”
“Troy played an integral role in the growth and development of rugby in Guyana over many years. His dedication, commitment, and passion for the sport left a lasting impact on players, administrators, and the wider rugby community. His service to the Guyana Rugby Union will always be remembered and appreciated.”
“We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and colleagues during this difficult time. May they find strength and comfort in the many lives he touched and the positive legacy he leaves behind,” the statement concluded.
