Addressing the players and teachers, Candia Paul, a teacher of Bartica Secondary School and former player who had the opportunity to represent Guyana and the West Indies at the Women’s Windball Cricket Tournament, shared her experiences with the participating schools. Paul mentioned that she was part of the AL Sport & Tour Promotions Windball Development Programme, which hosted weekend live-in camps at the Guyana Teachers’ Union (GTU) in Georgetown. These camps involved students from various schools, including participants from Berbice.
“I learned a lot from those days, and I was happy to be given the chance to work with my girls,” Paul stated.
Region Seven Sports Organiser Mark Ambrose, in his remarks, thanked the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the National Sports Commission for once again providing students with the opportunity to compete in Windball Cricket. He emphasised that his department remains committed to supporting sports development within the region.
Also present at the day’s programme were NSC Sports Organiser Deon Carew and AL Sport & Tour Promotions officials Julius David and Clavern Monchior.
