Rupununi youths will have the chance of a lifetime when they travel to Manaus, Brazil to participate in the Copa Das Cachoerias (Waterfall Cup) in the Under 17 Category. Clubs from Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Brazil are expected to be part of this competition, which will be staged on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd February 2019.
Officials identified to lead the team are Ken Grant (Head Coach), Orlando Allicock (Assistant Coach), Franklin Parks (Fitness Coach) and Manley Thomas (Manager).
These officials will train and screen players for the final squad. Prospective squad includes international players the likes of Orville Daniels, Wayne Da Silva and Ken Salvador. Emerging talents such as Victor Hernandez and Stephen McDonald and more talented local players from across the Rupununi have already joined a camp on January 9.
The Rupununi Football Association (RFA) will also be launching its flagship tournament, The RFA Champions League.
The Rupununi will once again be treated to three months of exciting football from various clubs across the Rupununi as defending Champions Tabatinga FC (Male) and Gladiators FC (Female) fight to retain their crown. A total of 25 clubs are expected to participate.
