Sales rep found with ammo on $80,000 bail

Sales representative Sanjay Martin of Number 64 Village, Corentyne, Berbice was allegedly found with a single round of 9mm ammunition in his possession on August 27 on Main Street, Georgetown, when he was not licensed to carry ammunition.
Arraigned on Wednesday before Georgetown Magistrate Judy Latchman, the 35-

year-old defendant denied the charge, and the attorney representing the accused told the court that her client has no previous conviction and no pending matter before the court.
She said that police ranks had visited a popular Main Street night spot and her client and others were arrested following discovery of the round, which was reportedly found on the counter of the club.
Interestingly, the other detainees were released, but Police charged Martin with the offence, which he is vehemently denying, his counsel advised.
Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves did not object to the magistrate placing the defendant on bail, thus Martin was placed on $80,000 bail, and is required to return to court on September 13. (Kizzy Coleman)
