UCCA/ Roy Baijnauth T20
Number 43 Scorpions and #48 Challengers picked up wins as the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) / Roy Baijnauth T20 knockout competition continued this week in Berbice.
In their match played at the # 70 Young Blood Ground on the Corentyne Coast, the # 43 Scorpions made light work of the # 70 Young Blood, whipping them by 7 wickets. Batting first, # 70 Young Blood were bowled out for 116 in 18 overs with Arjune Persaud 24 and C. Nandkishore (18), the top-scorers.
Bowling for # 73 Scorpions Farook Drepaul (2-25), Ronald Pottaya (2-28), Marcel Henry (2-21) and Bhajpaul Deen (3-14), ripped through their opponents. Replying to a decent target, the Scorpions cruised to 123 in just 11.3 overs with Marcel Henry and Pottaya slamming unbeaten 40’s.
Over at the # 69 Red Rose Venue, # 48 Challengers defeated hosts # 69 Red Rose by a massive 124 runs. Batting first # 48 Challengers scored 156 for 4 in their 20 overs thanks to Devin Baldeo (43), Monesh Lalu (41) and Mandrekhar Bhola (39). In the end, # 69 Red Rose were mowed down for 32 during their chase.
The competition continues over the next four weeks with the 12 teams who have qualified from the previous rounds, preparing to do battle in the next rounds.
