Georgetown cricket supporters are in for an action-packed weekend, with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Cricket Team and Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) set to battle for a place in the final of the Dave West Indian 50 Overs First Division Tournament, while Transport Sports Club (TSC) and DCC prepare for the Under-17 Eline Security Logistics 50 Overs final.

The two high-stakes encounters headline a busy weekend of cricket across Georgetown, where the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) will also launch two new competitions: the GCA LCD Contracting Services First Division 50 Overs tournament and the GCA Panthers Security Second Division T/20 Cup.
The combination of knockout cricket and the opening fixtures of the new competitions promises an exciting weekend for players, clubs and supporters as the local cricket season continues.

Police, DCC clash for place in Dave West Indies final
The GPF Cricket Team will face DCC in a crucial Semi-final of the Dave West Indian 50 Overs First Division Tournament today, at the DCC ground on Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown.
With a coveted place in the final at stake, both teams will be looking to produce a strong all-round performance and keep their championship hopes alive.
The encounter is expected to attract considerable attention, with the two sides seeking to advance beyond the Semi-final hurdle and move one step closer to tournament glory.
Transport, DCC battle for Under-17 title
Meanwhile, Transport Sports Club and DCC are set to contest the final of the Under-17 Eline Security Logistics 50 Overs competition at the Transport Sports Club ground.
The title clash will bring together two clubs that have featured prominently in the competition, with both sides aiming to finish their campaign on a winning note and claim the championship.
Individual performances will also add interest to the contest. Transport’s Emmanuel Lewis currently leads the run-scoring standings with 447 runs, while DCC’s Kaylon Callender tops the wicket-taking charts with 19 wickets.
Lewis will be hoping to continue his impressive run-scoring form for Transport, while Callender’s wicket-taking ability could prove important to DCC’s chances of securing the title.
The final therefore presents an intriguing contest between Transport’s leading batter and DCC’s leading wicket-taker, although both teams will depend on contributions from across their line-ups to secure victory.
Two new GCA competitions bowl off

The opening fixtures will provide the participating clubs with an opportunity to establish early momentum as they begin their campaigns in the new competition.
The GCA Panthers Security Second Division T/20 Cup will also commence on Saturday, with a full schedule of matches featuring Transport, Police, Queen’s College (QC), DCC and several other Georgetown clubs.
